TEKNOFEST Adana was held at Adana Airport with the participation of 128 institutions, including public institutions, technology giants, universities and media organizations, under the main leadership of T3 Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
ASPİLSAN Enerji, one of the participants of TEKNOFEST, introduced its national battery cell and battery systems to the visitors.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Turan Özdemir, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji, reminded that ASPİLSAN Enerji was established in 1981 with the donations of philanthropists from Kayseri as a result of the embargo imposed on radio batteries during the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, and said that they have been meeting the needs of the army by producing batteries and batteries since 1983.
Özdemir pointed out that under the roof of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, with the support of the Presidency of Defense Industries, they produced the rechargeable cylindrical battery cell in Kayseri in 2022, and that they continue to follow and produce energy technologies without missing the new generation technology trends. He explained that high-quality 18650 cylindrical lithium ion batteries are produced in their facilities.
Özdemir emphasized the importance of this facility and continued his speech as follows:
“As you know, the conditions of warfare have changed a lot. Today, whether it is the security vulnerabilities of electronic devices or the supply chain, these vulnerabilities can be exploited by intervening at many levels. Therefore, it is very important that the entire process from the hardware, software and battery of electronic devices in our country is national to minimize security risks. The most merciful enemy will not operate the battery we supply when needed, but the battery can ignite on the platform, and even damage your platform during operations. Therefore, it is very valuable that these processes are produced under our supervision, with our engineers, in our factories, and with our workers, in a way that we can do better with our know-how. In this respect, energy and technological independence are the most important points in a fully independent Turkey. At this point, ASPİLSAN Enerji offers both technology and energy solutions.”
Energy and power systems of many platforms are made by ASPİLSAN Enerji
ASPİLSAN Enerji Genel Müdürü Prof. Dr. Özdemir, askerlerimizin kullandığı telsiz bataryalarıyla başlayan sürecin bugün Türkiye’de raylı sistemlerin batarya üretiminden, KAAN’la birlikte TUSAŞ platformlarının neredeyse tamamının enerjilendirilmesini gerek lityum iyon çözümleri gerek nikel kadmiyum çözümlerle birlikte sağladıklarını dile getirdi.
Özdemir said, “ASPİLSAN Enerji designs and produces the energy and power requirements of many systems, from marine platforms to land and air defence systems and warfare systems. We offer services to solve the energy needs of our heroic army everywhere in the air, land and sea.”
Noting that ASPİLSAN Enerji's signature will also be in space systems with the latest framework contract signed with TAI, Özdemir said that they have already developed designs for special batteries that work in many areas from under the sea to near space with the companies of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.
A local system maximizes security perception
Özdemir stated that ASPİLSAN Enerji is in a very special place in the world with its technology the facilities it has and the work it does. He also stated that there are only a few companies like them in the world.
Özdemir said, “We manufacture battery solutions in our factory, where the powder material enters our factory and eventually comes out as a battery, our electronic circuit designs are converted into electronic circuit boards and turned into batteries with their hardware and software, and these are suitable for automotive systems such as R100 certification, rail systems such as IRIS certification, aviation systems such as EASA and military systems such as AS9100, like a tailor according to customer needs.
Emphasizing that ASPİLSAN Enerji technologies and services should always be evaluated within national solutions, Özdemir pointed out that they design and produce energy solutions that give confidence and are safely used under the roof of ASPİLSAN Enerji.
Özdemir also touched upon the role they played in TEKNOFEST and said that they created stations for the participants to charge their phones, tablets and the devices they carry in a similar way at TEKNOFEST this year and at Saha EXPO in the coming period.
Stating that they are pleased that many people benefit from this service at these stations, Özdemir said, “As ASPİLSAN Enerji, we are happy and satisfied to have met such a need. Apart from the charging stations, this year we are organizing a battery cell-making event with children, and we have seen that children are also very curious about battery cell technology. They know that there are battery cells in many places, from toys to electrical household appliances and vacuum cleaners. They see and experience how that battery cell works here and by giving them a battery cell certificate, we make the training they receive here permanent with a document. The interest of the children was very high, so we will spread our battery-making activities to a wider framework starting from here.”
